Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NuVac-23 is a 23-valent pneumococcal polysaccharide vaccine (PPV23) being developed by Panacea Biotec for the prevention of pneumococcal infections, including pneumonia. The vaccine is composed of purified capsular polysaccharides from 23 different serotypes of *Streptococcus pneumoniae*. Its mechanism of action involves eliciting serotype-specific antibody responses against these 23 serotypes, thereby providing active immunity and protection against invasive pneumococcal disease. Currently, NuVac-23 is in the preclinical stage of development and represents a traditional polysaccharide vaccine modality, distinct from the company's conjugate vaccine candidates.
