Overview

Nuvaxovid JN.1 (NVX-CoV2705) is a JN.1-updated formulation of Novavax's protein subunit (recombinant nanoparticle) COVID-19 vaccine, Nuvaxovid. It contains a recombinant, full-length SARS-CoV-2 spike protein from the Omicron JN.1 subvariant, stabilized in its prefusion conformation, and is formulated with Novavax's proprietary saponin-based Matrix-M adjuvant to enhance and broaden the immune response. Developed by Novavax and commercialized in partnership with Sanofi, Nuvaxovid JN.1 is indicated for active immunization to prevent COVID-19 in individuals aged 12 years and older, particularly serving as a non-mRNA alternative for those who are hesitant about or have experienced adverse reactions to mRNA- or adenovirus-based vaccines. It is administered intramuscularly as a single dose.
