Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NuVisc PRO is an ophthalmic viscosurgical device (OVD) containing high-concentration, high–molecular weight sodium hyaluronate formulated as a highly viscous, cohesive, sterile, viscoelastic, clear isotonic solution for intraocular use during cataract surgery and other anterior segment procedures.[1][3][6][11] As a cohesive OVD, it is designed to efficiently create and maintain space in the anterior chamber, stabilize tissues, and protect the corneal endothelium and other intraocular structures during phacoemulsification and intraocular lens implantation, while allowing relatively easy removal at the end of surgery.[1][3][4][6][11] The product is developed and marketed by BVI (Beaver-Visitec International) and is being evaluated against other high-quality sodium hyaluronate OVDs such as Amvisc Plus in controlled clinical studies of cataract surgery via the anterior chamber.[10][14]
