Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NV-27 is an experimental small molecule ATP-sensitive potassium channel opener that was developed by Novogen SAS for the treatment of cardiovascular conditions, specifically hypertension and angina pectoris. By promoting the opening of ATP-sensitive potassium channels in vascular smooth muscle cells, NV-27 induces hyperpolarization and subsequent vasodilation, thereby reducing peripheral resistance and blood pressure. The compound was part of a series of synthetic derivatives investigated by the French company Novogen SAS (a subsidiary of Laboratoires Fournier) in the late 1990s. However, development has not progressed into recent clinical phases, and the drug is currently considered discontinued.
