NV-CoV-2-R is a novel antiviral drug candidate developed for the treatment of COVID-19. It consists of remdesivir encapsulated within polymeric micelles of the nanoviricide platform compound NV-387 (also referred to as NV-CoV-2). This formulation is designed to enhance the delivery and efficacy of remdesivir by targeting virus-infected cells specifically, using the nanoviricide’s ability to bind viral surface proteins and deliver its payload directly where needed. Preclinical studies have shown that NV-CoV-2-R demonstrates superior antiviral activity compared to remdesivir alone in animal models infected with coronaviruses, including improved survival rates. The drug is being developed by NanoViricides for intravenous administration in hospitalized patients with COVID-19[1][3][4][5].
