Overview

NV-CUR is a nanomedicine consisting of curcumin encapsulated within nanovesicles derived from brain-homing B16 melanoma cells. Designed to treat Alzheimer's disease, it addresses the poor bioavailability and blood-brain barrier (BBB) penetration of natural curcumin. NV-CUR employs a "3R strategy": removing senescent cells (specifically p16INK4a-positive microglia), remodeling the neuroinflammatory microenvironment (by suppressing SASP and cytokines like IL-1β, IL-6, and TNF-α), and repairing neuronal damage (by reducing amyloid-beta plaques and Tau hyperphosphorylation). In preclinical models, it has demonstrated the ability to restore hippocampal integrity and improve cognitive function without systemic toxicity.
