Overview

NV-VPAC1 Cu-64 is a radiopharmaceutical diagnostic agent developed by NuView Life Sciences. It consists of a small molecule peptide analog that specifically targets the vasoactive intestinal peptide receptor type 1 (VPAC1), a G protein-coupled receptor (GPCR) that is significantly overexpressed on the surface of various malignant cells, including those in prostate, breast, bladder, and brain cancers. By chelating the positron-emitting radioisotope Copper-64 (Cu-64), the molecule acts as a radiotracer for Positron Emission Tomography (PET) imaging. This allows for the high-specificity identification and localization of primary and metastatic tumors. The platform is part of a theranostic approach, where Cu-64 is used for imaging and Cu-67 is used for targeted radiotherapy.
