NV701

NV701 is an ophthalmic formulation containing pilocarpine at a concentration of 1.25%. It is being evaluated as an eye drop for the treatment of presbyopia, specifically to induce pupil constriction (miosis) and improve near vision by increasing depth of focus. The mechanism of action is through pilocarpine, a muscarinic receptor agonist that stimulates the sphincter pupillae muscle in the iris, resulting in miosis and accommodation. NV701 is being compared directly to Vuity (another pilocarpine 1.25% formulation) in clinical trials for its effect on pupil size in subjects with presbyopia[2][3][4].
