Overview

NVA1309 is a small molecule ligand developed by Novassay that targets the **α2δ-1** and **α2δ-2** subunits of voltage-gated calcium channels (VGCCs). It is currently in preclinical development (GLP toxicology stage) for the treatment of various chronic neuropathic pain conditions. By binding to these specific subunits, NVA1309 is designed to modulate the trafficking and functional activity of calcium channels, thereby reducing the hyperexcitability of neurons and the release of excitatory neurotransmitters associated with chronic pain states. The drug is being investigated for multiple indications, including diabetic painful neuropathic pain (DPNP), post-surgical pain (PSP), post-herpetic neuralgia (PHN), lumbar radiculopathy (sciatica), and fibromyalgia.
