Overview

NVG-291-R is a systemically injectable linear peptide and a close analogue of Intracellular Sigma Peptide (ISP), developed by NervGen Pharma. It is designed to promote nervous system repair by targeting and inhibiting receptor-like protein tyrosine phosphatases (RPTPs), specifically those that interact with chondroitin sulfate proteoglycans (CSPGs) in the glial scar after nervous system injury. By blocking these inhibitory pathways, NVG-291-R enhances neuroplasticity, remyelination, and axonal regeneration in preclinical models. The drug has demonstrated efficacy in animal studies for improving recovery of functions such as walking, bladder control, vision, and memory following spinal cord injury or other forms of nervous system damage[1][2][5][8].
