Overview

NVK002 is a proprietary, preservative-free ophthalmic solution containing low-dose atropine (0.01% or 0.02%) developed for the treatment of myopia progression in children and adolescents aged 3 to 17 years. It is administered as a nightly eye drop and has demonstrated efficacy in slowing axial elongation and refractive error progression associated with myopia, as shown in multiple large-scale, placebo-controlled phase III clinical trials (CHAMP and Mini-CHAMP). The exact mechanism by which low-dose atropine slows myopia progression remains unclear but is believed to involve anticholinergic activity at muscarinic acetylcholine receptors within ocular tissues[1][4][6]. NVK002 has shown a strong safety profile over up to four years of use, with no evidence of tachyphylaxis or meaningful rebound after discontinuation[3][8][10]. The formulation addresses the instability issues of low-concentration atropine and offers shelf stability for over two years[5][7].
