NVP-018

**NVP-018** is a potent, non-immunosuppressive cyclophilin inhibitor from the novel Sangamide compound class, serving as the oral formulation of NeuroVive's lead compound from its cyclophilin platform. It exhibits dual antiviral mechanisms against hepatitis B virus (HBV) in preclinical models: direct inhibition of viral replication stages in liver cells and indirect enhancement of the host immune response by inhibiting the cyclophilin A interaction with interferon regulatory factor 9 (IRF9), a key Jak/Stat pathway component. Developed primarily for chronic HBV treatment, it demonstrated low resistance risk, positive pharmacokinetics, and fibrosis prevention in a non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) model; licensed to Arbutus Biopharma (formerly OnCore) in 2014 but rights returned to NeuroVive.[1][4][6][8]
