Overview
NVP-1702 is a probiotic complex developed by NVP Healthcare (also known as Navipharm) for the improvement of liver health, specifically targeting non-alcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD). The formulation consists of two specific bacterial strains: *Lactobacillus plantarum* LC27 and *Bifidobacterium longum* LC67. NVP-1702 has received approval from the Korean Ministry of Food and Drug Safety (MFDS) as a functional ingredient for liver health. The mechanism of action is based on the gut-liver axis; the probiotic complex modulates the intestinal microbiota to reduce the production and translocation of gut-derived endotoxins, such as lipopolysaccharides (LPS), into the portal circulation. By lowering systemic endotoxin levels, NVP-1702 helps mitigate hepatic inflammation and lipid accumulation, thereby improving liver function markers and reducing the severity of fatty liver.
