Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NVP-NK4146 is an orally administered microbiome-based therapeutic candidate being developed by NVP Healthcare (Navipharm) for the treatment of mild cognitive impairment (MCI) associated with Alzheimer's disease. As a live biotherapeutic product, NVP-NK4146 is designed to modulate the gut-brain axis, a complex communication network between the gastrointestinal tract and the central nervous system, to potentially improve cognitive function and reduce neuroinflammation. The drug is currently undergoing clinical evaluation, including a 36-week randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled trial to assess its safety and efficacy in patients with MCI due to Alzheimer's disease. It is also entering Phase 1 clinical trials in the United States.
