Overview

NVP014 is an experimental neuroprotective small-molecule program originally developed by NeuroVive Pharmaceutical (now Abliva) in collaboration with to-BBB Technologies and later Isomerase Therapeutics, aimed at generating one or more drug candidates for the treatment of ischemic stroke and other acute neurological conditions by protecting mitochondrial function and limiting reperfusion-related brain injury.[1][8][9][10][11] The project focused on improving delivery of cyclophilin inhibitor–based or mitochondria-targeted neuroprotectants to the brain after stroke, with preclinical data suggesting reduction of ischemic damage in models with a short therapeutic time window.[1][9][10][11] NVP014 remained in the research/preclinical stage, and Abliva subsequently discontinued its development for stroke as part of a portfolio refocus.[1][5]
