Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**NVSI-06-07** is a recombinant COVID-19 vaccine developed as a heterologous booster for individuals previously vaccinated with inactivated vaccines like BBIBP-CorV. In a phase 2 randomized, double-blinded trial in the UAE, it demonstrated superior immunogenicity compared to homologous BBIBP-CorV boosting, eliciting significantly higher IgG geometric mean concentrations (GMCs) and neutralizing antibody geometric mean titers (GMTs) against SARS-CoV-2 prototype strain and variants of concern (VOCs) including Omicron, Alpha, Beta, and Delta, with fold increases up to 63.85 for neutralizing GMTs in participants boosted ≥6 months post-priming. Safety profile was comparable to BBIBP-CorV, with mostly mild or moderate local (e.g., injection site pain) and systemic adverse reactions. It has been approved for emergency use in the United Arab Emirates.[1][3]
