Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NVSI-06-08 is a recombinant protein subunit COVID-19 vaccine developed by the National Vaccine & Serum Institute (NVSI), a subsidiary of China National Biotec Group (CNBG) under Sinopharm. It is designed as a broad-spectrum vaccine that integrates antigens from multiple SARS-CoV-2 variants—including the original strain, Beta (K417N/E484K/N501Y), and Kappa (L452R/E484K)—into a single trimeric receptor-binding domain (RBD) immunogen. The vaccine aims to provide enhanced cross-neutralizing immunity against various variants of concern. Clinical studies have shown that when used as a heterologous booster following two doses of BBIBP-CorV, NVSI-06-08 elicits strong neutralizing antibody responses and has an acceptable safety profile[1][3][5]. It has received emergency use authorization in the United Arab Emirates[7].
