Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NVT-C001 is a preclinical small molecule developed by Neuro Vigor Therapeutics that functions as a scavenger for reactive aldehyde species (RAS), specifically acrolein. Acrolein is a highly reactive byproduct of lipid peroxidation that accumulates in the nervous system following traumatic injury or during the progression of neurodegenerative diseases. By covalently binding and neutralizing these toxic aldehydes, NVT-C001 prevents them from damaging cellular biomolecules and mitigates the activation of the Transient Receptor Potential Ankyrin 1 (TRPA1) channel, which is a key driver of neuropathic pain and neuroinflammation. The compound is being developed for the treatment of spinal cord injury, neuropathic pain, multiple sclerosis, and Parkinson's disease.
