NVX-408

NVX-408 is an investigational oxygen therapeutic being developed primarily for the treatment of hemorrhagic and hypovolemic shock, where severe blood loss and reduced circulating volume lead to inadequate tissue oxygenation.[1][3][5][7] It is described as a hemoglobin-based or oxygen-carrier agent that is administered intravenously and circulates through the lungs to load oxygen, then delivers that oxygen systemically to improve tissue perfusion and limit ischemic organ injury in acute trauma and battlefield settings.[1][5][7] NVX-408 is being advanced by NuvOx Pharma (also referred to as NuvOx Pharma LLC or NuvOx Therapeutics) with a regional licensing agreement involving Jiangsu Nhwa Pharmaceutical for development in hemorrhagic shock and perioperative blood loss indications, and it has reached early clinical development (Phase 1) in shock and related indications while remaining in preclinical stages for some hemorrhage applications.[1][3][6]
