Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NVX-CoV2540 is a recombinant protein-based COVID-19 vaccine developed by Novavax targeting the Omicron BA.5 subvariant of SARS-CoV-2. It consists of a recombinant spike (S) protein nanoparticle formulated with the Matrix-M adjuvant to enhance immunogenicity. The vaccine is designed to stimulate robust neutralizing antibody responses against the Omicron BA.5 variant, and clinical studies have shown it induces higher neutralizing titers for this subvariant compared to earlier Novavax vaccines and bivalent formulations[4][5][6]. The mechanism of action involves immunostimulation through presentation of the spike protein antigen, leading to an enhanced immune response.
