Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NW Roselle is a standardized herbal medicinal product developed by Natural Wellness Egypt for the treatment of Grade 1 essential hypertension. It consists of a combination of extracts from Hibiscus sabdariffa (roselle) calyxes and Olea europaea (olive) leaves. The therapeutic effect is primarily attributed to the inhibition of angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) by constituents of the olive leaf extract, complemented by the antihypertensive properties of roselle. Clinical evaluation in Phase II and Phase III trials has shown the product to have comparable efficacy and safety to the standard ACE inhibitor captopril.
