NWL-283 is a novel, selective small molecule inhibitor of caspase 3, developed by New World Laboratories. It is designed to inhibit apoptosis by targeting caspase 3, a key executioner enzyme in the apoptotic pathway. Preclinical studies have demonstrated that NWL-283 enhances cell survival of neural precursor cells and promotes neurogenesis following stroke injury. The compound has shown neuroprotective effects in animal models of ischemic stroke, reducing neuronal cell death and microglia activation at the injury site. These properties suggest potential therapeutic applications for conditions involving neuronal loss or damage, such as stroke, traumatic brain injury, multiple sclerosis, Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, spinal cord injuries, myocardial infarction, and cancer[1][2][5][3].
