Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NWL-PSCs is a preclinical-stage autologous cell therapy being developed by New World Laboratories for the treatment of metabolic and pancreatic diseases, most notably diabetes. Utilizing a proprietary personalized stem cell platform, the therapy involves the direct reprogramming of a patient's own somatic cells into pancreatic stem-like cells. This approach is designed to facilitate pancreatic tissue regeneration and provide a functional source of autologous islet beta-cells to restore insulin production. By using patient-derived cells, the therapy aims to avoid the immunological rejection associated with allogeneic transplants and the ethical concerns surrounding fetal or embryonic-derived stem cells.
