Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NWPT-SM32300 is an investigational, pharmaceutical-grade oral cannabidiol (CBD) formulation developed by NW-Pharmatech. It utilizes a high-loading micellar delivery system formulated as a softgel capsule to improve the oral bioavailability and absorption consistency of CBD. NWPT-SM32300 is under clinical development as a monotherapy for the treatment of acute schizophrenia and clinical high risk for psychosis (CHR-P). Unlike traditional antipsychotics that primarily target dopamine D2 receptors, CBD acts through a multi-target mechanism of action, including negative allosteric modulation of cannabinoid receptors (CB1 and CB2), agonism of serotonin 5-HT1A and TRPV1 receptors, antagonism of GPR55, and inhibition of fatty acid amide hydrolase (FAAH) to enhance endocannabinoid signaling.
