Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NWRD18 is an orally bioavailable, highly selective small molecule inhibitor of the MDM2-p53 interaction, developed by Novet Bio-Tech. It is designed to treat cancers characterized by MDM2 amplification or overexpression, such as certain types of soft tissue sarcoma. By blocking the binding of MDM2 to the p53 tumor suppressor protein, NWRD18 prevents p53 degradation, thereby restoring its ability to induce cell cycle arrest and apoptosis in malignant cells. The drug is currently undergoing Phase I clinical evaluation in China for patients with advanced, unresectable, or metastatic soft tissue sarcoma who have progressed on standard therapies.
