Drug intelligence / Profile preview
NX-501 is a non-steroidal, highly selective mineralocorticoid receptor (MR) antagonist being developed by Guangzhou Nanxin Pharmaceutical (Nucien). Currently in the preclinical stage, it is being investigated for the treatment of diabetic nephropathy, hypertension, and heart failure. As a non-steroidal small molecule, NX-501 is designed to bind to the mineralocorticoid receptor with high affinity and selectivity, aiming to provide potent anti-inflammatory and anti-fibrotic effects while minimizing the risk of hyperkalemia and off-target effects on other steroid receptors (such as the androgen or progesterone receptors) that are commonly associated with traditional steroidal MR antagonists like spironolactone and eplerenone.
