Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nx3 is a preclinical-stage, self-assembling nanomolecule (nanoparticle) developed by Audax Medical for the broad-spectrum prevention and treatment of respiratory viral infections. Unlike traditional intracellular antivirals, Nx3 utilizes a physicochemical binding mechanism to coat the external surface of viral particles at the point of entry. By targeting conserved surface features common to multiple respiratory viruses, including rhinovirus, it prevents viral attachment and entry into host cells. The drug is primarily designed as a nasal spray for upper airway protection, with aerosol and inhaler delivery formulations under evaluation for the lower respiratory tract. Its broad-spectrum activity is intended to address rhinovirus infections (common cold), asthma exacerbations, COPD flares, and respiratory infections in vulnerable populations such as the elderly, young children, and the immunocompromised.
