Overview

NXN-462 is an orally available, small molecule drug that acts as a selective inhibitor of neuronal nitric oxide synthase (nNOS). It was initially developed by NeurAxon Pharma for the treatment of neuropathic pain syndromes, including postherpetic neuralgia and migraine. The mechanism of action involves inhibition of nNOS, which plays a role in pain signaling pathways in the nervous system. Clinical development reached up to phase 2 trials for postherpetic neuralgia and phase 1 for migraine before being discontinued. There are no approved indications or known brand names associated with this compound[1][2][3][4].
