Drug intelligence / Profile preview
**NXP001** is a proprietary cocrystal-based formulation of the small molecule NK1 receptor antagonist **aprepitant**, developed by **Nuformix** using their patented cocrystal technology to improve the physical properties and bioavailability of approved drugs. It is designed as an oral treatment for **chemotherapy-induced nausea and vomiting (CINV)**, a condition affecting one-third of cancer patients undergoing highly emetogenic chemotherapy, targeting the £16 billion oncology supportive care market. A Phase 1 crossover study in healthy volunteers demonstrated bioequivalence to **Merck's Emend®** (aprepitant 125 mg) in terms of peak exposure (Cmax) and overall exposure (AUC), confirming its pharmacokinetic suitability for rapid development without additional safety data requirements. NXP001 has been licensed to **Newsummit Biopharma** for China (with Nuformix retaining 10% royalties) and exclusively to **Oxilio** for global development (excluding China), with ongoing formulation optimization by **Quotient Sciences** to support clinical trials.
