Overview
**NXP031** is a preclinical neurodegenerative-disease candidate developed by Nexmos. It is a co-formulated vitamin C and Aptamin C DNA aptamer complex designed to bind and stabilize ascorbic acid, thereby limiting its oxidation and prolonging antioxidant activity. In animal models of Alzheimer's disease, Parkinson's disease, and vascular dementia, NXP031 has reduced oxidative stress, neuroinflammation, amyloid-beta or alpha-synuclein pathology, neuronal injury, and cognitive or motor deficits. Reported downstream effects include activation of the Nrf2 antioxidant-response pathway and suppression of glial activation.
