Overview

A personalized, investigational cancer immunotherapy composed of a patient's own (autologous) dendritic cells that have been pulsed ex vivo with a synthetic peptide derived from the NY‑ESO‑1 tumor-associated antigen (specifically amino acids 157–165). NY‑ESO‑1 is a cancer-testis antigen expressed in various tumors and minimally in normal tissues except for testes. The therapy aims to stimulate an immune response—primarily cytotoxic T lymphocyte activation—against NY‑ESO‑1-expressing tumor cells. This approach is being studied mainly for malignant solid tumors and cancers, including sarcoma and neuroblastoma, with clinical trials reaching up to phase 2[2][3][8]. The mechanism involves enhanced presentation of the NY‑ESO‑1 epitope by patient-derived dendritic cells to T-cells, promoting targeted anti-tumor immunity.
