Overview

NY-ESO-1 CAR-T is a type of adoptive cell therapy, specifically a Chimeric Antigen Receptor (CAR) T-cell therapy, designed to target the cancer-testis antigen NY-ESO-1 (New York esophageal squamous cell carcinoma-1). NY-ESO-1 is aberrantly expressed in various cancers but has restricted expression in healthy adult tissues, primarily germ cells in the testis and placental trophoblasts, making it an attractive target for cancer immunotherapy with minimal off-target toxicities. The CAR-T cells are genetically engineered to recognize NY-ESO-1 presented on the surface of cancer cells, leading to an immune response against the malignancy. The therapy involves infusing these engineered T cells into patients, often after lymphodepleting chemotherapy. Shenzhen BinDeBio Ltd. is developing this therapy.
