Overview

Nyaditum resae is a heat-killed preparation of the environmental bacterium *Mycobacterium manresensis*, which belongs to the *Mycobacterium fortuitum* complex and is naturally found in drinking water. [1, 2] Developed by Manresana de Micobacteriologia (Manremyc), it is classified as a nutraceutical, food supplement, or probiotic. [1, 10] It is being investigated to reduce the risk of progression from latent infection to active tuberculosis (TB). [2] The proposed mechanism of action involves oral administration to induce low-dose immune tolerance. [2] Specifically, it is believed to increase the population of specific memory regulatory T cells (Tregs), leading to a modulated, less inflammatory response against *Mycobacterium tuberculosis*. [1, 6] Clinical trials have evaluated its safety and immunogenicity in both adults and children, with an efficacy trial conducted in Georgia to assess its ability to reduce TB incidence in close contacts of active TB cases. [1, 5] The product is administered orally in the form of capsules or drinkable vials. [1, 3]
