Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nypa fruticans ethyl acetate leaf extract (EaNFL) is a botanical extract derived from the leaves of the Nypa palm (*Nypa fruticans*). It contains a variety of bioactive polyphenolic compounds, including rosmarinic acid, quercetin, and (-)-epicatechin. Research indicates that EaNFL possesses renoprotective, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties. In preclinical models of gentamicin-induced nephrotoxicity, it has demonstrated the ability to improve renal function and reduce tubular necrosis and glomerular damage. Its mechanism of action involves the modulation of the renin-angiotensin-aldosterone system (RAAS) via the AT1 receptor and the inhibition of glucose transport through SGLT2, alongside the mitigation of oxidative stress and inflammation.
