Overview

Nystaform is a topical combination therapy developed by Typharm Limited for the treatment of superficial skin infections caused by fungi and bacteria. It contains two active ingredients: nystatin, a polyene antifungal agent, and chlorhexidine hydrochloride, an antiseptic with broad-spectrum antibacterial activity. Nystatin works by binding to ergosterol in the fungal cell membrane, creating pores that lead to the leakage of intracellular contents and subsequent cell death. Chlorhexidine provides complementary antibacterial action by disrupting bacterial cell membranes. The formulation is specifically indicated for conditions such as cutaneous candidiasis, dermatophytosis (ringworm), and athlete's foot (tinea pedis), particularly where secondary bacterial infection is present or suspected.
