NYVAC HIV-C (also known as NYVAC-C or vP2010) is an investigational recombinant poxvirus-based vaccine candidate designed for the prevention of HIV-1 infection, specifically targeting subtype C (clade C). Developed by the EuroVacc Foundation and manufactured by Sanofi Pasteur, the vaccine utilizes the highly attenuated New York vaccinia (NYVAC) poxvirus backbone. It is engineered to express multiple HIV-1 clade C antigens, including Gag, Pol, Env (gp120), and Nef, derived from the Chinese clade C isolate CN54. The vaccine aims to elicit both cell-mediated (T cell) and humoral immune responses. It has been evaluated in Phase I clinical trials (such as EV01 and EV02) both as a standalone agent and as part of a heterologous prime-boost regimen following a DNA-based HIV-C vaccine.
