Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Nyxoid is a single-dose intranasal spray formulation of naloxone hydrochloride dihydrate, indicated for the emergency treatment of known or suspected opioid overdose in adults and adolescents aged 14 years and over. Naloxone is an opioid receptor antagonist that rapidly displaces opioids from their receptors in the central nervous system, temporarily reversing life-threatening respiratory and central nervous system depression caused by opioids such as heroin, methadone, fentanyl, oxycodone, buprenorphine, or morphine. The onset of action occurs within two to five minutes after administration and lasts approximately 30–90 minutes. Nyxoid is intended as an emergency rescue medication while awaiting medical attention; it does not replace the need for immediate professional care[1][2][4][5][7][10].
