Overview
NZ-DTX (also known as nanodotax) is a novel depot formulation of docetaxel developed by LIDDS AB using its proprietary NanoZolid technology. This formulation is designed for intratumoral injection, allowing for a controlled and sustained release of the chemotherapy agent directly into the tumor for up to six months. By concentrating the active drug at the site of the tumor, NZ-DTX aims to maximize therapeutic efficacy while significantly reducing the systemic exposure and associated side effects typically seen with intravenous docetaxel. Docetaxel itself is a taxane that binds to and stabilizes microtubules, preventing their disassembly and leading to cell cycle arrest and apoptosis. NZ-DTX has been evaluated in Phase Ia/Ib clinical trials for patients with advanced solid tumors, demonstrating safety and the activation of systemic inflammatory biomarkers.
