NZT-235 is a transdermal patch formulation of **mirogabalin** (specifically mirogabalin besylate), a potent and selective ligand for the **alpha-2-delta-1 subunit of voltage-gated calcium channels**. Developed by **Nippon Zoki Pharmaceutical**, it is currently being evaluated for the treatment of **postherpetic neuralgia (PHN)**. Mirogabalin exerts its analgesic effects by binding to the alpha-2-delta subunits, which reduces the influx of calcium into nerve terminals and subsequently inhibits the release of excitatory neurotransmitters such as glutamate and substance P.
