NZYM-002

NZYM-002 is a dry powder inhaler formulation of fosamprenavir, an HIV protease inhibitor being repurposed by N-Zyme Biomedical for the treatment of laryngopharyngeal reflux (LPR), also known as airway reflux. The therapeutic strategy involves the inhibition of pepsin, a gastric enzyme that causes inflammation and tissue damage when refluxed into the laryngopharynx and lungs. By delivering the drug directly to the site of action via inhalation, NZYM-002 aims to provide localized protection against pepsin-mediated injury. Preclinical development has included safety verification in rodent models and computational fluid dynamics to optimize particle size for targeted delivery to the laryngopharynx.
