It is an experimental compound primarily studied as an inhibitor of the serine/threonine-protein kinase/endoribonuclease IRE1 (also known as inositol-requiring enzyme 1). IRE1 is a key sensor and mediator of the unfolded protein response (UPR) in endoplasmic reticulum stress. By inhibiting IRE1’s kinase activity, this compound may modulate cellular stress responses relevant to cancer and other diseases involving ER stress pathways. The compound has not been approved for clinical use and remains at the experimental stage[1][7][9].
