Drug intelligence / Profile preview
O-COX Gel is a topical fixed-dose combination gel developed by Captab Biotec for the relief of pain and inflammation associated with musculoskeletal and orthopedic conditions, such as osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis, and ankylosing spondylitis. The formulation contains etoricoxib (1%), a highly selective cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) inhibitor that reduces prostaglandin synthesis to alleviate deep pain and swelling; methyl salicylate (10%) and menthol (5%), which act as counterirritants to produce synergistic cooling and warming sensations that distract from underlying pain; linseed oil (3%), which provides anti-inflammatory benefits and enhances dermal penetration; and benzyl alcohol (1%), which serves as a preservative with mild local anesthetic properties.
