OAP-101

OAP-101 is a potent and selective small molecule inhibitor of the NLRP3 (NOD-like receptor protein 3) inflammasome, currently under development by Olatec Therapeutics. As a next-generation follow-on to the company's lead candidate dapansutrile (OLT1177), OAP-101 is designed to block the assembly of the NLRP3 inflammasome complex. This inhibition prevents the maturation and subsequent release of the pro-inflammatory cytokines interleukin-1 beta (IL-1β) and interleukin-18 (IL-18). The drug is being investigated for its potential to treat a broad spectrum of inflammatory and autoimmune conditions, including gouty arthritis, cardiovascular diseases, and neurodegenerative disorders, where NLRP3-mediated inflammation is a primary driver. OAP-101 has entered early-stage clinical trials to evaluate its safety, tolerability, and pharmacokinetic profile in humans.
