OB-001 is a preclinical senolytic gene therapy candidate being developed by Oisin Biotechnologies to selectively eliminate senescent cells based on their transcriptional profile. It uses a DNA plasmid payload delivered systemically (via a non-viral platform) that remains inert until specific senescence-associated promoter activity is detected, at which point a suicide gene cassette is transcriptionally activated to induce apoptosis in target cells while sparing normal tissues. The construct is designed so that multiple regulatory “switches” must be engaged, and a separately administered small-molecule activator is used to trigger the killing function, providing an additional layer of safety and temporal control. OB-001 is being advanced as a broad platform therapy for age-related diseases and prophylactic use by clearing senescent cells that contribute to chronic inflammation, tissue dysfunction, and degenerative pathologies.[3]
