Drug intelligence / Profile preview
OB-004 is a precision-engineered protein therapeutic designed as a C-C chemokine receptor type 2 (CCR2) antagonist. Developed by Orion Biotechnology, it is a protein analog of the natural ligand CCL2 (Monocyte Chemoattractant Protein-1). By targeting the CCR2 receptor, OB-004 aims to modulate the CCL2/CCR2 signaling pathway, which is implicated in the recruitment of inflammatory monocytes and myeloid-derived suppressor cells (MDSCs) to sites of disease. This pathway plays a critical role in the pathogenesis of various conditions, including cancer, inflammatory diseases, metabolic disorders, and neurological conditions. As of late 2021, OB-004 was in the preclinical stage of development, with the company planning to advance the candidate into efficacy studies.
