Overview

**Obagi Nu-Derm** is a prescription topical skincare system for hyperpigmentation and visible photodamage. Its core prescription products, including Clear, Blender, and Sunfader, contain **hydroquinone USP 4%**; certain system components also contain sunscreen actives. Hydroquinone produces reversible depigmentation by inhibiting tyrosinase-mediated oxidation of tyrosine to DOPA, suppressing melanogenesis. The system is marketed for gradual bleaching of melasma, chloasma, freckles, senile lentigines, and other areas of melanin hyperpigmentation. Obagi Nu-Derm originated at Obagi Medical and has subsequently been owned or developed through Valeant Pharmaceuticals, Hologic, Waldencast, and Bridgepoint.
