Drug intelligence / Profile preview
OBI-898 is a monoclonal antibody developed by OBI Pharma that targets Stage-specific embryonic antigen-4 (SSEA-4), a glycolipid antigen frequently overexpressed on the surface of various cancer cells. Designed as an immuno-oncology therapeutic, OBI-898 was intended to treat a range of neoplasms by inhibiting SSEA-4-mediated pathways. However, OBI Pharma discontinued the development of OBI-898 in 2021 after preclinical studies, including drug metabolism and pharmacokinetics (DMPK) and toxicology assessments, failed to meet the required criteria for advancing to clinical trials.
