This is a combination of three drugs: - Obicetrapib, an investigational small molecule inhibitor of cholesteryl ester transfer protein (CETP), being developed for the treatment of dyslipidemia and cardiovascular risk reduction. - Drospirenone, a synthetic progestin with anti-mineralocorticoid and antiandrogenic properties, commonly used in oral contraceptives. - Ethinyl estradiol, a synthetic estrogen widely used in combination oral contraceptives. Drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol are combined as an oral contraceptive to prevent pregnancy by suppressing ovulation through inhibition of gonadotropin release from the hypothalamus. This combination also alters cervical mucus and endometrial lining to further reduce the likelihood of fertilization and implantation. It is also indicated for premenstrual dysphoric disorder (PMDD) and moderate acne in women[1][2][3][5][6]. Obicetrapib is not part of any approved fixed-dose combination with drospirenone and ethinyl estradiol; however, clinical studies have evaluated potential drug-drug interactions between obicetrapib and this combined oral contraceptive[4]. There are no approved products containing all three agents together.
