Overview

Obinutuzumab + chemotherapy refers to the combination of **obinutuzumab**, a glycoengineered type II anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody, with cytotoxic chemotherapy agents for cancer treatment. Obinutuzumab binds to CD20 on the surface of B lymphocytes, inducing cell death primarily through antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity and direct cell killing. Chemotherapy agents used in combination commonly include chlorambucil, bendamustine, or fludarabine plus cyclophosphamide, selected based on patient fitness. This combination is primarily used in chronic lymphocytic leukemia (CLL) and follicular lymphoma, with clinical studies demonstrating high response rates exceeding 80% at 3 months post-treatment. The approach delivers broad immunochemotherapy effects: obinutuzumab targets malignant B cells, while chemotherapy exerts cytotoxicity on rapidly dividing cells, resulting in synergistic anti-tumor activity[2].
