Drug intelligence / Profile preview
Beijiexin (obinutuzumab beta, development code MIL62) is an innovative, glycoengineered, type II anti-CD20 monoclonal antibody developed by Beijing Mabworks Biotech. It is designed with a near-completely afucosylated Fc region to significantly enhance its binding affinity to FcγRIIIa receptors on immune effector cells, thereby boosting antibody-dependent cellular cytotoxicity (ADCC) and B-cell depletion. As a type II anti-CD20 antibody, it also promotes direct B-cell death rather than complement-dependent cytotoxicity. Beijiexin is approved in China for the treatment of neuromyelitis optica spectrum disorder (NMOSD) and primary membranous nephropathy (pMN), making it the first domestically developed third-generation CD20 antibody approved in China and the world's first targeted therapy specifically approved for pMN. It is also in clinical development for various other autoimmune diseases and B-cell malignancies, including follicular lymphoma, systemic lupus erythematosus, and lupus nephritis.
